High season is upon us at Cranberry Valley! Please find information below about our tournament schedule, daily course conditions and staying safe and hydrated in intense summer heat.
Super Junior Day - Monday, 6/29, CV held a "Super Junior Day", hosting 105 kids for the Cape's only Drive, Chip and Putt Qualifier on the practice facility from 8am-1pm. From 11am-1:30pm we hosted 66 kids from the New England PGA Junior Tour. In the afternoon, our PGA Head Pro, Dick Fagan, led a PGA Junior League program of 36 kids through a practice, preparing for interleague matches with local courses. Now that is helping to grow the game!
We would like to thank our dedicated team of CV volunteers: Susan Pleines, Jan Doda, Brian Durocher, Bill Walsh, John McCaffrey and Ralph Ferrigno, as well as all of the NEPGA staff and interns who made the day such a success!
Tee Times - The big holiday weekend has seen major pressure on tee sheet availability and requests. On these big event weekends, please consider playing early back 9 or twilight rounds. They only generate half the Chelsea priority points and are almost always available. Even with all the requests that were "overflowed" by Chelsea, on Friday, 4:40-6pm is available and on Saturday the 4th many early back 9 spots remain unfilled and afternoon tee times are plentiful with an entire block from 2:10-3:30pm unfilled and 4:50-6pm open as well. For best results when making a tee time request in Chelsea, open your window of availability.
Dangerous Heat and Thunderstorms - One reason that the above tee times may be left unfilled is due to forecasted dangerous heat and thunderstorms. It is smart to not schedule golf if you are at risk for heat and dehydration issues. If you do choose to play golf in the dangerous heat (heat index over 100*), please take a cart, bring plenty of ice water/drinks and watch for signs of heat related illness. If anyone in your group gets ill, call 911. There is no drinking water available on the golf course, but there are plenty of opportunities to fill up on cold water before your round and at the turn in the clubhouse. Please stay hydrated.
If you hear the lightning alarm sound you must leave the golf course. This is not optional. Please wait out a delay in our clubhouse and staff will direct you when it is safe to return to your spot on the golf course to resume play.
